Welcome to the Stolen Bibles Show.
Founded 1999, the Stolen Bibles are inspired by songwriting and energized by improvisation. The ‘Americana Soul’ of the Stolen Bibles is unlike anything you have heard and yet familiar from the very first notes. The Stolen Bibles have been crafting their blend of Soul, Blues, Funk, Rock and Gospel into the most irreverent inspirational band on the West Coast.
In San Francisco studios over the last three years the Stolen Bibles have shaped and refined two distinct CD.’s. The first, self titled "Stolen Bibles", explored their varied influences, farmed the roots of America’s traditional music’s and honed the production and writing styles of it’s founding members Tony Mattioli and Dave Tweedie. The 2003 release of the Stolen Bibles is a culmination of 2 years of songwriting and 100’s of live performances together as a group of friends and as a group of tight, dedicated, professional musicians. The C.D. incorporates both open sonic space, and heavily layered soundscapes. The c.d. intentionally captures many live, emotional, and uncut takes and attempts to portray each of the unique songs with a clear and classic quality.
"The sauntering rhythms and delicate guitar phrasings of "Americana Soul" make for easy listening…their "Americana Soul" does feel like road music after all and is perfect for long drives and hours spent squinting at the sun." Dean Blaine, S.F. Weekly ‘Listen Up’ issue March 11, ‘03
"I was quite impressed by [Tony’s] musicianship as well as his eclectic songwriting and interesting arrangements. He’s a fine guitarist in a number of rootsy styles and has a cool vocal approach as well….there’s real musicianship here, good taste and a lot of attention to the arrangements and details. I’m quite impressed…." Bruce Iglauer, Head A&R Rep. Alligator Records 1-‘00
